Kayleigh is a multidisciplinary performance artist, ethnographic researcher, producer, and oral historian. Over the past decade, she has created spaces for people to share recorded stories and histories centered on urgent social and political themes, culminating in the Oral History Performance Initiative: The Community Storytelling Composition Project. Her work explores socio-political discourse and uses performance as a subversive tool to spark conversation around charged or often overlooked subject matter. She is continually investigating how site-specific and unconventional spaces can be activated for storytelling outside traditional archival or proscenium settings. Kayleigh’s intellectual interests engage with performativity, spectatorship, boundary construction, and the use of artistic mediums as instruments of dissent. She is particularly drawn to the ways performance reshapes social dialogue, belonging, political structures, cultural bias, consensus culture, and the imagining of utopian futures.
As an oral historian, Kayleigh creates soundscape installations, digital archives, exhibitions, listening parties, and live multimodal performances that weave together communal and personal narratives. Through her performance company, The CSCP, she has used audio narratives as the heart of ethnographic storytelling, addressing issues such as disconnection, involuntary waste, local food systems, hydraulic fracking, gender politics, and systemic injustice.
Kayleigh holds a Master’s degree in Oral History from Columbia University, a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Hunter College, and a Post-Baccalaureate degree in Anthropology from SUNY New Paltz. She also earned a Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and is a NYS- and NCCAOM-licensed acupuncturist.
As a production manager Kayleigh has managed theaters, clubs/venues, and arts nonprofits that have included Seattle Public Theater in Washington State, Forklift Danceworks' roaming productions that have spanned Germany, Portugal, Austin Texas, and Nashville Tennessee, Roll the Bones "Deadletter No. 9" Immersive Theater, & Brooklyn based experimental performance group "LEIMAY".
Before entering the world of research and oral history, Kayleigh was a professional circus artist and aerialist. She was accepted into the renowned Cirque du Soleil roster of artists after an invite-only, two-day audition in 2014. Throughout her performing career, she worked with a variety of companies in Austin, Seattle, and San Francisco. In her teens, she toured as a performer at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Disneyland in Florida, and on two rounds with Carnival Cruise Lines.
